I have a line leaking. It is about 3" long, goes from power steering box to where the booster would be in back of the brake reservoir near the firewall.

I have called the parts stores and no one knows what hose this is. Does it have a name?

Is it OEM only?

Thanks.. Gary

Power Steering Gear Inlet Hose

Called Chevy Parts and the guy finally figured out that it is called a
Power Steering Gear Inlet Hose.
I am guessing this is where my leak is coming from. I am also guessing that there is no bleeding anything since I have a closed loop with flow.

I really need a factory repair manual.

Ok, thanks for the response.

Yea, it uses power steering pressure for brake assist instead of vacuum.

So, after changing the line, do I just start the vehicle and adjust the fluid level and I am good to go? thanks

The easiest thing on the system is to top off the fluid after changing the hose and monitor the fluid level while "slowly" turning the steering wheel back and forth with the front tires elevated so most of the front end weight is off the ground or tires are just 1/2" off ground. That reduces pressure on the steering system when turning with no weight on it. If you turn fast the fluid will push out the fill cap area. To be safe you can put the cap on and turn wheels and then stop and remove cap and add fluid as needed. Also, apply the brakes several times to purge air in the system. All of this is meant to fill correctly and purge air. Always make sure the final fluid level is checked with the engine off and parked on level ground.

Let me know if you find it. I was just talking to a buddy of mine today about having a hard time finding oem parts and not stuff made in China. He gave a link to New GM parts. May be working checking out to compare prices.

I bought the part from the dealer. He had to order it but it is supposed to be in Wednesday morning. $41 and change. Thanks. Gary
