Knock sensor is a PITA to replace. The whole intake has to come off.
But 7500 seems like a pretty fair price if it doesn't have too many issues. I paid 16k for my 01 suburban back in 06. Only issues I have had besides normal stuff like battery, belts and brakes, is my waterpump went out about 6 months ago and now my AC compressor went out. Other than that its been very reliable for the past 5 years.

Ehh, it isn't that bad. I've put a few on Corvettes and the trucks are easier.

I spent all day doing my research, and buying parts. I'm confident I can tackle this. Hell, I did the intake manifold on my old '93 740il. Just by looking under the hood of the Suburban, it looks like a cakewalk in comparison.

I got everything I need for about $150. I assume any dealership/shop would charge AT LEAST 300-400 for this job...AND I wouldn't even have the right piece of mind to know that the RTV job was done properly. AND I get to know my new Suburban a bit better. It's all win for me.

Hell, if you did that then it will be super easy. I just replaced a crankcase vent valve on a 323i today, now that was a chore.

Yeah, BMW maintenance isn't fun...but to pay a shop for parts and labor? No thanks, I'll take my chances.

I did a lot of work to that damn thing...even rebuilt the transmission valve body after being told by a shop that I needed a new $6000 transmission. Googled the issue, found what I thought would work, bought all the parts and $500 later, had a PERFECT transmission. $400 of that $500 was spent on fluid. Talk about a great feeling of accomplishment...
