Looks like Greyhound isn't any cheaper in this case. Right around $288. Balls.

Ok I just checked out busfreighter.com, which apparently uses Greyhound, and they quoted me at $166.00...anyone gone through these guys before?

$290 isn`t that bad...you have to realize that you are shipping like 200-300lbs or more. I shipped a set of 23 inch wheels a while back from Vancouver to NY....cost me $600!! There are freight companies that you can use (look in your local area) and they are cheaper but also more hastle. Just sandwich each wheel in cardboard and shrinkwrap. It`s not just the weight but also the dimensions...you want to keep them as small as possible. UPS likes them packaged like that...easy to just roll. Taking the air out is probably not a good idea because you risk damaging the rims if there isn`t air in them (they aren`t that gentle with heavy items like that) and the weight savings is really not measurable on that much weight. These big wheels are heavy suckers and there just is no cheap way to send them.

I gotta do a little more research, but I'm pretty happy with $166...I"m just skeptical since it looks like they use Greyhound, and Greyhound quoted me at $288.

UPS Stores are independently owned or franchised. They charge a premium over direct UPS rates. Go to a UPS service center to get a quote.

I've got an interested party in my 20" LTZ rims w/ tires but he lives in Florida. I got a quote from the UPS Store for $281.64, but I had to guess at the weight of each wheel. Any have an accurate weight for these things, and does are there any suggestions for a better way to ship (lower price) for the set? I've also read about different people's experience with how to package them to cut costs, but it seems like it's a crapshoot. Anyone with experience, please chime in!

31x31x10 and 81lbs each. Four packages. Fedex will be your best bet. Ups is high.

Every tire and wheel package I have ever received has come by FedEx.

They must have the best service and rates.

Air definitely adds weight. My mom owns a tire shop. I'm not exactly sure how much but I know a tire is heavier when filled versus deflated.
