Hey everyone, I've been looking around at these things for a while and recently I was offered a trade for my car. His car is a 98 tahoe 4x4 four door with leather and all that good stuff. Looks to be pretty immaculately kept but it does have 206k on the odometer. Is that something to worry about with these or are they good to go for a while depending on how well they were maintained? My car is a mildly built 89 foxbody Mustang that runs like a ***** ape and is fun as hell to drive. Sound like a good deal? If so what are some things that I should look for in his car? Any common issues? And if it weren't a trade what is the cash value in these vehicles? Thanks in advance for any replies.

If it were a 2 door, i'd go for it. Otherwise 206k is a truck that will need tlc. The most common issues are the intake gaskets leaking coolant b/c of a defect and the fuel injectors which are located under the intake manifold. If they havn't been done, that will probably be your first repair.
No way in heck would I trade a nice Foxbody for a 4-door Tahoe with a buttload of miles. If it was a nice 2 door with under 150k miles, then I might consider it. Is he trying to straight trade? If so you are getting taken, especially if those are all original miles on the engine.
Ok, thanks a lot guys. I guess I always thought these things were worth more. Why is it that the 2 doors are more desirable? Here's my Fox. Maybe I'll just find a nice low mileage Tahoe/Yukon to pay cash for.

They didn't make a lot of them and stopped making 2 doors in 99. Check ebay for an idea of 2dr prices. The 4drs are a dime a dozen.

what RWHP is it putting out?
Not sure yet, but it has a decent amount of work done to it. Thinking about taking it down to the local track this weekend for test and tune. They usually have a mobile dyno down there.

An old friend of mine had an '85 with t-tops. It had a wicked amount of tourqe and I always loved how that ****** used to twist!

yep 2 door hoes are a find! mine has 280k on the clock and still runs great! hope to have it lookin like Fishintahoe's ride well same height anyway.
