Magneride replacement struts - need input

My 2017 Denali is in need of front struts. The RF has leaked oil out in puddles now for a couple months and the ride is garbage. Searching on Rock Auto showed a loaded Dorman one that has magneride capability, but doesn't come right out and say Z95.

Further checking does show it is for z95 and I came across "GENUINE GM" loaded struts. They look good, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these or Dorman. Both should come with a lifetime warranty. I like the loaded option.

Looking for insight. Also, these have already been replaces at 80k under warranty for leaking oil at the dealership. I will be ditching the 22 inch wheels after this for sure. Midwest roads on 22 inch wheels aren't conducive

I wish that I could assist you, but I have not seen what a Z95 electrical connector looks like on the top of the strut. Those in the photo don't look anything similar to my Z55 electrical connection at the top of the strut (the Z95 connector may be very much different, of course).

But for about the same price you could buy struts that are absolutely known to be GM genuine parts.

Other folks with Z95 suspensions will chime in.

I did further digging and found really crappy reviews about the Dorman equivalents. Then, further digging after comparing OEM numbers, reviews from Amazon, etc I found that it seems like these are not a legit set(?). From what I gather, it seems as though these just fool the system (passive) and aren't any different than any other knock-offs out there. When they have the same part number for loaded as RA has for the OEM strut itself, it makes a guy think twice.

I just ordered the struts from RA and will do the switch myself. Lifetime warranty is nice so I know I can do the job again at 220k.....

Excellent choice, IMO.

I've been eyeing these also. It's crazy to me that bwi wouldn't have an issue with them if they are knock offs.

I just got through this as well. I noticed the ebay sellers kept changing their name to outrun reviews/lawsuits - those you posted look to be the best yet. I just couldn't find any legit GM parts supplier that has Delco full assemblies - I don't think they exist (I think Arnot splices their own). Dorman is a legit magneride supplier who make full assemblies. I had a set of fronts purchased from amz for 299 each, but every single review said they fail so I cancelled in favor of the lifetime AC Delco shock from Rock. I had a local shop swap the springs, then did the wire connector myself - (very easy to cut off the old ones solder to new). Glad I went OEM as they ride great - especially after replacing the driver engine mount. Just know the 3 bolts on top are not an equilateral triangle as they appear - spent 20 minutes trying to get one in before realizing this...

I posted this a little while back about the MagnaRides:

SK-4261 has a 1" white spacer underneath the coil spring. That spacer lifted my '17 Yukon XL 2WD a Full 1" from it's original ride height. It was actually an 1 1/4" rise depending on how you looked at the tape measure.
MR-3840 has a 3/32" spacer underneath the coil spring, this brought the ride height back to factory specs/looks.

After speaking to Arnott on several occasions they determined the correct P/N for my Yukon XL. They said that in the developmental stage of the Magneride Strut, they used a 2WD Suburban as their Test Bed. After many different versions of that strut, they were satisfied with the MR-3840 and released that to the public as the Factory replacement.
They said soon after its release they started getting feedback saying that the MR-3840 dropped the front end on the people with 4WD SUV's, they also had received reports of people requesting a slightly higher version for their needs/wants as well. So they added the spacer and made the SK-4261 the standard P/N for ALL Yukon XL's 2015-2020.

It wasn't until I called them (from what I was told by Arnott) and told them that my XL had been lifted, that they told me the story of their test bed and the 4WD communities feedback. My particular taste is lowered, not lifted and I had considered taking that white spacer out and contacting Arnott for that 3/32" spacer. But Arnott wasn't having that!

They shipped two (2) MR-3840 to me for free, and included Return Shipping labels. They asked that when I removed the SK struts and installed the MR struts that I stick those old ones in the box and ship them back to Arnott without me spending a dime!! Other than the gas to drive over to FedEx to drop them off!

As I said in another Post on the Forums, it took me all of about an hour to swap out both sides. I stopped to light up a Macanudo and open up a Modelo during this time and would have probably finished the job much sooner if I hadn't!
Marvin, Robert & Vanessa from Arnott were the ones who hooked me up, couldn't be happier with all three of them!

Go to the Arnott website and plug in those P/N's and see the spacers I am referring too.

Yeah Arnotts are a great choice, but they backed off their warranty which is my only issue...

I contacted GM fraud department about those struts on eBay and they assured me that they are indeed counterfeit. They stated they will be contacting ebay about them.

 

[Northwoods]

I put a set of the magnaride struts from NAPA on my 2015 Suburban. They are terrific and the Suburban rides at least as well as when new. Beyond that, the struts come with a long warranty. Highly recommend.
