I remember the early c6z was dropping valves, but that was later revised by gm iirc. I don't remember hearing about lifter issues.

Not to hijack, but to add to this build so if you decided I'll leave it at that..

Not to scare you or anything but a lot of guys were complaining about failed ls7 lifters a few years ago. I avoided doing lifters with my cam swap and I regret it now since I had the stupid things in my hands and didn't want to risk it. A lot of them were Vette guys and I think there were some defective heads that led to their problems and some cams with bad lobes and race specd cams so overall I don't think it was the lifters.

I'm curious which ls7 lifters you get since BTR sells them but I don't know which ones are the genuine GM ones. @67427ss is running them and his engine sounds great. I'm thinking about ripping my heads off and doing mine.. only issue is they have like 3 different ones listed ranging from $99-over $200..for Morels..

I'm not gonna hijack the OP thread as its got a lot going on and he has already committed to ls7 lifters. Google ls7 lifter failure and you will see post from 09-18 about failures from various boards. Again, I think a lot goes back to bad setups, wrong pushrods lengths and defective heads. I should have looked more into it to find the common denominator since little to no failures were noted from truck guys. I will be adding ls7 lifters when I put a blower on mine FWIW..

You can search google and find bad reviews/threads about lifter failures for literally any manufacturer... The point is, in my mind that with the insane QTY (Millions) of these out there from GM, there is a very small number of failures (few hundred, maybe 1k???). The percentage of failure is much less than a company that makes a few hundred/thousand sets and has a dozen or more people with bad one.

*My LS7 lifters have hit 7k RPM on occasion and my valve train is rock solid. There were designed for high RPM abuse...

you are not hijacking, please carry on with your point. I might be out for a bit as today we are taking the engine out but would love to hear both sides.
