I have pulled the pan, replaced the pick up tube, o-ring, and melling HV oil pump. There was a little metal in the pan and while I did the oil pump, I pulled the timing stuff, grabbed the end of the cam, wiggled it up and down and could feel end play toward the back of the cam journals. So like I said, im 99 percent sure the cam bearings are toast so yes DoD delete is in order but not if the cam bearings are shot.

If it were my rig, I would drive it to failure and then just rebuild it but its my wife's car, who is 8 1/2 months prego so its going to be hauling my wife and newborn son around.

When I did my AFM delete my cam bearings didn’t look great! But I didn’t have oil pressure issues so I slapped a new cam in and sent it. That was 3 years ago and still runs like a top.

In these situations you can open it up and see what’s going on and then make a plan based on your findings. Not sure on the best schedule to do this with the baby coming.

wow. you could. move the cam up and down? huh, that does seem bad. not that I've tried that before thou.

I got nothing man. you can technically replace the front cam bearing without pulling the engine but only that one and the 2nd one I believe is the one that sends oil to the vvt.
