i just did mine 2 weeks ago. no heat gun, just grabbed the corner and pulled them off. GET AN ERASER WHEEL. your fingers will thank you. i had some moderate stright line scratches where dirt/sand got behind it and scratched up the paint. i washed it, clayed it, washed it, used some meguires 2x scratch remover, and then used the cleaner wax on it. it helped a lot but i still have scratches there. even with the scratches i think it was worth it...looks much better.

when I hear eraser I think of mr. clean magic erasers...

06tahoe said 3M erasers.. so I'm guessing i'm way off.

yep, thats it. its officially called a 3M stripe off wheel. no basic auto parts store around here had it (autozone, advance, oreilly's). i did find one at NAPA and at Carquest but only 1 or 2 in the area had them. I had to drive 30 mins to get it. Was around 40 bucks with tax and was worth every penny.
