Justin360' Yes your missing the fact that China is stealing our technology, and than reproducing cheap low quality "clones" for pennies on the dollar. I honestly believe that "cheap china reproductions" are affecting our reliability in american products, when you buy a dorman auto part at half the cost of an OEM component and than install it on your vehicle only to have it fail in a few months the average person says"im not buying american junk anymore"! China is sticking it where the sun dosent shine in regard to America! Why do you see so many kia, hyundai on the road? Oh yea and i did buy my TECH2 clone from china out of necessity, i cant afford $4,000 for an American made scanner. Why cant America take care of it's own? Im trying not to get started! Hey the clone works perfect, get one. lol!

Also you guys been watching the news? Im a Ridgecrest ca, resident and we have been rockin and rollin literally!

They used to but now you can buy a clone. Same thing, built in the same factories as the ones made for GM.

Hey Rocketman are you sure they are built in the same factories? Mine definitley has some injection mold issues in regard to the plastic case. It just seems really low quality assurance went into the manufacturing process.

FYI, most major US auto parts companies have plants worldwide manufacture their products to their specs. Google "are ____'s parts made in the USA?" and see what you get. Moog for example admits that they have parts made in other places under less strict quality control in order to compete with the no-name brands price-wise. I wouldn't buy any company's cheap line, you get what you pay for. They also have parts made in other countries under the same quality control as the USA-made stuff. It's a global manufacturing economy anymore.

Some are, some of course aren't because there will always be copies of everything. And I don't know of any way to tell. Best thing is to just check reviews on the buyer and what he's selling before you buy.

yep the parts are made all over the place, soon you will see made in "Africa" because Africa is China's new *****, while the USA and everyone else stands by China is investing heavily in Infrastructure & Hydro-electric in Africa, mark my words

Does yours say vetronix on it? Here's the thing. They were always made in China....For GM. GM is done with them. They're not a proprietary product anymore. They make a couple minor changes for whatever reason (cost savings, ease of manufacturing, process redundancy, etc) and just continue to make them out from under the GM license. Hence the $300 price tag.

It's definitely not a US vs China thing. It's simply a license and manufacturing thing. You will find the same thing in the states. Look up some parts for old Dyson vacuum cleaners, for example.

Not going to get started with the China debate because its bound to end in politics....But I do wish you and yours safe being during the earthquakes.

Im in Alaska and I still have cracks in my back yard from the 7.1 earthquake Nov.30th. Parts of my yard became liquefied. I deployed the "bug out" bags and my fam of 4+ 2 dogs were all loaded up in the Tahoe in less than 5min. (dead of winter)
Truly scary stuff!
Every year we have a tradition (started when my wife and were married 25 years ago and to broke to buy any) I hand make a Christmas ornament for our tree. I made two last year, an extra for wife's folks.....made these the day before they officially upgraded the earthquake from a 7.0 to a 7.1

Well, as much as I hate to support the Communists, it is the free market and I'll never be able to justify spending $4,000 on a scanner. I'm trying to justify $300 for one now. I'm sure I'll find a good excuse and get a clone.
I've seen first hand several Dorman electronics fail within a few months of installing them. Meanwhile the OEM parts they replaced lasted 14+ years. I'll never buy their electronics again unless I have to.
