I've got an 07 tahoe LT 5.3. I'm wanting to replace the factory muffler with an aftermarket one. Either flowmaster or magnaflow. I need to order one with 2 3/4 piping correct?
Also do I need to get one that's center to center? An offset one? I called the muffler shop and they weren't any help. He didn't know what size or anything to get and told me to check online.

Thanks for any info!

Plenty of threads already on this. Great reading too.

You have 2.75 inch pipes. A good exhaust shop can put in a 2.5 inch or a 3 inch muffler.

Look under your truck, should be a Center In and a Offset out.

If Magnaflow then, 12586 or 12589 should be good.

Thanks a lot. I did some reading but still wasn't sure what exhaust size to get. Some were saying 3 and some 2 3/4. I'll probably just look for a 2 3/4 and hopefully the shop can make it work.

Problem is you won't find a 2.75 inch aftermarket muffler.

The only one that is 2.75 inches is the Borla GMPP muffler. The problem is that it is NOT Center/Offset. It is Center/Center.

If I were you I would get a Center/Offset in a 2.5 inch pipe, have them flare out the ends .25 inches and weld it in.

I am running a 3" Magnaflow, 22" case, and it fit stock piping fine. I would go with a 3" over choking it down to a 2.5".

Yep just noticed there is no 2.75. I'll order a 3inch muffler. Thanks for all the help! Now I just can't decide which muffler to get

2.5 or a 3 inch would work though.

A 2.5 is not all that bad for restriction. A Magnaflow in 2.5 inch straight through design outflows a stock 3 inch muffler with baffles.

A car needs some exhaust backpressure so you don't lose too much of your low end.
