Well pulled the tune last night and MAN these trucks are detuned from the factory. Have a lot of place to play with the timing. Going to do a 91 pump tune and then do a e85 tune which should wake it up some more. Now i can see why the people say the 6.2s gain a lot when doing a tune on them.

Overlooking my goals at this stage if I can run 13.9x full weight on 24s with a few bolt ons Id be very happy

Your thread makes me wish I had a 6.2 so bad!
What was peak horsepower after tune?

the 11th going on dyno tune but had to change the tune for the 3.73 gears going in on monday didnt touch any other tables. One good thing with hp tuners I can just use a stock 2500 with a 6l80e and the same gear ratio as the trans tune and adjust for tire height (and squish). Then can adjust shift time/rpm etc to make it shift crisper.

honestly not shooting for dyno numbers as much as I am at track times. Dyno i use rates low hell my ctsv said made 550/572 and car is 4580 with me in it and trapped 102 in the 1/8 thats a stingy dyno. Main thing for dyno is you keep going to same one with same weight set up in it so you get accurate numbers.

How do you know any timing adjustments without tuning that on the dyno? While there are certainly improvements to be had there, don't just look at the high octane spark table as the sole input. There are a LOT of tables that impact final spark on that engine.

Be very careful with using a 6L90E tune with a 6L80E. There are tables in the back end (not visible in any tuning software) that will impact shift function. Friction material is different in the two transmissions, which can result in unpredictable shift quality. Additionally, shift patterns are very lazy in a 6L90E vs a 6L80E. You'd be better off just leaving the TCM alone with respect to the 3.73s or re-scaling shift points alone.

looking at the 6.2 my buddy just tuned on 91 there was a lot left to be worked on. He showed me the logs was crazy how much more timing he was able to get. The silverado he tuned is a local street racer guy and went high 13s with intake/tune/3.73s no tother mods on his crew cab 2wd truck. I'm just fixated to run 13.9s and if i get there without headers ill be very happy especailly on these 24 inch wheels also called him on the trans tune he said its from a crew cab 3.73 6l80e not 2500 hd so that was my fault

yes im going to run it the 24th with no headers and then prob few weeks later with headers. im having the headers ceramic coated also.

I went catted on the headers. I don't want the truck crazy loud plus I have the big 5x11x28 magnaflow with resonator cut off (turned down under truck) so should just set off the right tone.

ive seen the tvs2300 with a cam run 13.0 on a awd escalade. If i can get 13.7s with headers Id be happy.
