I have a 1996 2 door tahoe. My cruise won't work, I have replaced the switch, the fuse is fine, and I opened the control module and it looks BRAND NEW! What else could it be?

the brake switch control brake light operation torque converter lock disengagement and cruise control disengagement all on separate terminals. one can function while others don't. usually wehn someone loses the lock up funtion and we ask if they have cruise control or the other way around and they don't we recommend replacing the switch. it is a $15 part at most stores but is a bit cumbersome to get to on he brake pedal. you can test it with voltmeter. on the cruise control disconnect the wiring harness. two wires to check one of which needs the key turned to run but starting not required. when brake pedal is pressed down brake lights should be on and the white wire on harness should read system voltage and the purple wire should not. when released to where the lights go out the effect will be the opposite. purple has voltage, white wire does not.

When you said the cruise control wiring harness, do you mean on the cruise control module under the hood? And I don't have a volt meter but I do have a test light, will that work? And did I also mention that when I try to engage the cruise control, the light on the dash does NOT come on

Ok I tested it with a test light and it does what it's suppose to. What else could it be?

I've been checking around for lists of wires to check when certain switches are turned and everything is working fine.

if all is fine with the wiring and signaling and fuse and the cable is not broken the the module must be replaced.
