First of all, is my 2008 Tahoe's nav system compatible with the 5.0 update, or only up to 4.1c?

Second, if I borrow a nav disc for a few minutes to update mine, but put the old one back in, will it reverse the updates? What all would happen?

Thanks

Put 5.0c into my 08 Tahoe Hybrid and work as usual, didn't try to put the 4.1c back so far...

I went to the dealer today to see if they'd let me update mine with a disc for a few minutes. They said that it would not work because the Nav doesn't save the updates, it reads everything off that disc. So once I put my old one back in, it would reverse my updates like I thought.

Looks like I'm gonna have to eventually shell out $200 for one. :(

Btw would you consider selling your 4.1c?

Haha that won't help any, lol, that's what I have. I noticed you answered on the other thread about the changes.

I thought someone said the colors on the nav are better and stuff like that. Has it changed those too?

The dealer told me that he thinks you can get a grid view on the rear-view camera. Have you noticed an option for this anywhere?

no, it didn't show the grid view on mine, nor any option I can enable it; the colors look same to me, maybe because I feel OK on both versions... :)

Ah I see. So I don't guess it's worth dropping $200 just yet is it?

For $200, I rather get a new 5.3" TomTom GPS, not limit only in one car for using...

In my case, I never receive any disc from GM, even they said will mail to me but never happen. To spend $ that should come as "free update", also doesn't sounds right to me...

I know, and one dealer even told me to download it or copy one! Which is illegal but saves $200.

I'll just wait until they come out with a disc that adds a lot more than just map and camera updates. Something that is WORTH the $200 (or less on eBay).

If you google GM Nav Disc, there should be a site where you can put your vin in and it will send you an update if your eligable.

Also, I put an update DVD in mine and then gave it back, all of the updates stayed except the map data. But i updated to 5.0 anyway
