Navigation updates

I have a 2006 Yukon Denali with factory Nav that I’m going to install in place of the radio (dealer removed the nav before I purchased the truck)

Can you get current map updates or do they stop at 2012? (All I can find)

Or.... can I install a more recent factory nav system in my old truck that will update to current maps.

I really don’t want to go aftermarket if I can help it

They stop at 2012 and the gmt900 headunits are not compatible with gmt800.

Thanks. That’s what I suspected. Was hoping someone had info that I couldn’t find.

I'm really surprised that the aftermarket mapping companies have not come out with discs for these. There's gotta be a way or someone making them, I look once in a while to no avail.

Instead of getting the factory nav, why not get an aftermarket if you want an updated nav?

I use WAZE. It’s free, up to date, plus you get instant traffic and police updates.

We have Waze on the phones but I prefer to use the Nav unit. Phone screen is too small and is distracting. I get the traffic update for less than $10 a year from Sirius. But neither solves the map update for the OEM nav units. Don't plan to replace mine until the screen goes dark and then will either get that factory look-a-like from Rosewill or the 2012 Nav units.
