Hello all, I recently bought a nav unit off ebay which I believe to be a 2010 model because it has the usb. I installed it in my 08 Sierra and got the blue theftlock screen. I took it to the dealer to have it unlocked and he couldn't get it, then I showed him the bulletin where you put in an 06 monte carlo and the unit unlocked. When it restarted it showed the GMC logo on the screen and then showed the clock in the middle of the screen. When we tried to turn it on it wouldn't do anything. I pushed every button on the unit and nothing changed, just showed the time. I did notice the time was an hour fast, not sure if sets the time from satellite or if that was the time from the person I bought it from. Has anyone ran into this problem where it shows the clock but won't turn on? The dealer has no idea what to do now. They tried setting all the options on the radio to what my truck had and still no luck. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

That radio is not compatible with pre-2010 models. I'm not even sure if the 2009 Nav will work in pre-2009 models. But, the 2007 and 2008 nav units are interchangeable.

Thats not completely true, I have read on a few different forums where people have installed a 2010 model in their 2008-09 trucks. I found a guy in cali that can reprogram and unlock the radios, you have to send him a picture of the option codes in the glove box and he will program it for your truck. I am going to ship it off to him today, he said he has a day or two turnaround time. So hopefully I will get it back next week, and I will let you know how it works. Thanks for the reply!

Hm. I also went off what I've read, and I've read that it doesn't work. Nonetheless it sounds like you'll have a working nav soon, congrats!

My problem is solved! A 2010 navigation unit will work in pre-2010 trucks. I shipped the nav off to a guy in California, sent him a picture of my build code in my glove box, and he reprogrammed it to my exact truck specs. Now it works perfectly!

Are you able/going to use the USB feature?

I haven't tried the USB very much yet, just installed it tonight. I did hook up my iPhone to it and it took control of it where I could change songs with the radio. So I am assuming it will work with other things. I put a DVD in and it played the DVD too. Now all I need to do is wire up the reverse camera. This guy also fixed my old nav where it would just show a white screen saying "caution, system software not found, please insert correct disc". 2 places quoted me over $500 to repair it and this guy did it for $200. So if anyone out there needs their navs reprogrammed, unlocked, or repaired I can give you his info. The whole start to finish time where I shipped it to him and got it back took about a week.

Definitely not true. There is a HUGE thread on gm-trucks about adding the 2010 on a 07-09 tahoe/yukon

Thanks but I think I figured that out once this user posted his success story. :)
