need help/advice (crate motor)

Im looking at a 2005 Tahoe, white, tan leather, DVD full binder on service records. Its it great condition. It has 108K on the odometer but the motor was replaced with a crate motor at 103K miles. The receipt says Jasper reman long block for the crate motor.

Does anyone know anything about that type of crate motor? It has a warranty through Jasper on it. Any ideas on how to gauge a price for the truck? He has it listed a 15K which seems high to me but I think he is willing to negotiate. Any help would be great.

Also it is a single owner.

I'm willing to bet its a direct replacement engine.

15k is not terrible for the miles, but yea its high.
103 on the clock with a reman motor means someone didn't maintenance, flood victim or beat the hell out of it.
This takes my mine right to the transmission and what condition its in.


The absolute only way I would even consider it, is if the seller comes way down on price, like in the 12k rangeor less and has receipts showing who did the swap.
Then contact them and try to get a idea as to why it was replaced and how many miles ago.

How is the body and interior?
I would buy a trashed engine and trans LS based GM for the right price if the body and interior is MINT.
Motor and trans is easy and cheap to swap (and I can do the swaps myself) vs high priced body work and interior.

Any rust, oil leaks, even the slightest tick or weird noise in the engine, does the trans shift perfectly every time, etc?
Crawl all over that thing with a magnifying glass and point out every flaw you find. 15k is high.

no, pass on that, the seatbelt looks like someone wiped their ass with it.
Carpet is stained, floor mat has ****** on it.
