Ok guys i've been reading all over and cant find really anything about it. Some people say it can be the cluster aswell. Anybody really know which tank is the one that reads for the fuel gauge? Or am i really going to have to change both pumps

It can't be either fuel pump if both tanks read empty. It has to be something else like others have said. My bet is the stepper motor in the cluster- it's a very common issue in our trucks. From what I've heard it's easy to replace one. And inexpensive. Try YouTube or search here in the forum for stepper motor.
