probably bad lol have you seen the way that police drive? and i know it looks like a hard job man but its really not. and its a chance to learn alot about your vehicle. dont look into the engine bay and see every little detail that you have to take off man because its really not all that complex to replace a head gasket. sorry i misled ya man but a head gasket is only a few more bolts deep than your intake manifold gasket. i had never touched a motor before and that was my first task and i accomplished it pretty well (i forgot a few grounds) so dont stress man. if its your only vehicle and youre broke, take a deep breath and youll be done in a day or two. and haynes offers a manual that will guide you true everything you need to know. pick one up at your local auto parts store. or chiltons.

that bad plug is suffering from detonation. I am concerned about the one in front of it too(engine forward). So far my observation is there is no coolant passage next to that bad one(cylinder #4). As a result I do not see evidence of an intake gasket broken yet. this would conclude coolant under pressure is leaking from a coolant passage to a head bolt or to the valley of engine by means of head gasket. but still... the first plug you posted before... which position was that on engine?

Good call on everything. Work on your truck is not that hard. I do computer network stuff but love working on my toys. When I got my hoe I had to rebuild my trany. I only paid 1200 for my hoe and seeing how I never rebuilt on I said what the hell. Best time of my life! I know more about the 4L60E than I ever did and when I rebuilt her I did it right. Better gears, shifts smoother and ready for offroad when I take her. They are worth the time and effort to work on and as she breaks down and you fix her back up the knowledge you get is priceless! No more shops over charging or screwing you over. I wish I lived closer to you I would be more than willing to he turn a wrench. Oh and this form rocks with the help and support!!!

Sunlit ftw! Compared to most cars out there, the GM trucks are very easy to learn to fix. Haynes and Chilton manuals are good sources of information, but when you need detailed diagrams I recommend checking out gmpartsdirect.com. If you need aftermarket parts help, i.e, part numbers and approximate cost for something, like a Felpro Gaskets head set, send me a PM. For the next 3 weeks I will be working in auto parts. Who knows after that since I'm moving.

Btw, sunlit, do you have the Alldata link for this guy so that he can purchase a subscription?

Hey well a good friend of mines is a ASE mechanic or something like that & he came by while I was stripping the engine, he took a look at it said he'll have it towed to his garage and rebuild the whole thing, only cause he owed me a favor from when he did time in prison, so he said it'll take him about 4-5 days to finish due to his full time job....all I gotta do is buy the parts!!!

I will get a list together for you. it is important tho that you do not deviate from it for "maximum reliability and performance". check here again in a few hours.

yhea....he said he's gonna strip everything and machine all the rods and replace with better stuff....he's a good mechanic, he's always buying cars with bad engines and flipping them.

so I take it he has some part # in mind. There are some that I would really like to push on you. Also would you be interested in an upgrade or two along the way?
