i was driving my truck and i heard a whining sound whenever i accelerated and decelerated to eliminate teh possiblity that it was the new brakes i had just replaced ,i switched to neautral turned off the radio and let the truck roll ....sound stopped engaged drive again it came back so i figured must be low on trans fluid ..checked and fluids were good..so i raised the truck and saw this

That looks like the pinion yoke on the front differential. Is that a 4X4 truck? If so, that's a pinion seal that is leaking there. Check the differential oil level.

yeah its 4x4 let me get on that ..thanks another question the whining sound is that pinion bearing being worn out ..do u think i need to change it as well ...am in a place where i not so many auto shops understand american trucks ...better yet american built vehicles and the only GM outlet has to ship parts which costs a fortune ...

location east africa ...boom

Probably not, but w/o hearing it, no telling. I'd check the condition and level of all the fluids, engine oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and differential (front and back) and transfer case level.

The drive shaft will have to be disconnected to replace that seal. I'd give the pinion a spin by hand then to see if there are any weird noises from the front end.
