Need help with weird loose steering

Its definetly not normal. I may just replace the rack and pinion assembly. I can get a reman from rockauto for about $250. If it fixes the issue, then I'll call both dealerships and tell them to suck it.

I have the same thing in an 08 Tahoe. Did you ever replace the rack? Is that the only solution or does someone know of a way to adjust the rack to take the play out?
