Ok, here's my plan. Aside from the dash board modification, I want to put a double din radio in my 2001 Hoe with onstar, don't think it has the bose system, but it does have subwoofer. Where do I start. What harness do i need, what connections have to be made. Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the GM harness.....where do I begin

Google the double-din mods for the '01. I forget if some people just trimmed the dash piece or replaced it with an '05...As for all the others, uhhh...I took mine to the local audio shop! :) sorry for no help there...

There are a few ways to achieve a double DIN, some look good, some look bad. I would do it the right way and replace your dash bezel and bucket then mod the bezel to fit the climate controls or mod the climate controls to fit the bezel. The wiring harness isn't what you have to worry about.

I'm talking about the wiring harness for the radio. I did a little research and found "GMOS-11". Now it seems to be in order to keep onstar. But I don't care about onstar being that i have never used it, and it doesn't work anymore anyway. Now do I need the GMOS or can I get away with a regular wiring kit for metra. Do I have to wire in for onstar

You can do a regular one I believe, it will just eliminate Onstar functionality.

how does your OnStar work when the 01 used a analog signal and the 02+ went to a digital signal. I tried to update mine and there were no kits made. GM does have them for some vehicles but not my Denali

Two quick questions: I plan on buying a head unit and saw the wiring diagram for it. On wire is marked 12v output- is this for the amp, or can i use this for the amp(pink wire) on the onstar harness? Second question, there is also a wire marked "mute" is there a corresponding wire in any of the harness on the car? Thanks for all of the help...

Yes, 12v output would be for anything you want to be powered by 12v when the HU turns on. That should be used for the onstar harness. The mute wire is not used in most applications.

Has anyone heard of an mobile A/V company named "eonon". I was just looking at one of there HU and doing some research. While I was looking at the back panel and wiring diagram I noticed that there was no 12v output wire for the amp. Only noticed an "illumination" wire. Is this the same thing or not. If I do purchase this HU, can I power the amp off of the 12v coming in from the car. I mean take the "pink" wire from the OnStar harness and connect it to the 12v wire on the radio harness to power the amp
