I would see about cutting it off, being (what I believe) it's the problem giving the p3400 code. I've seen people drive around with a collapsed lifter. Not condoning the activity as anything of that nature is causing damage, but I have seen it done.

I believe you'd be ok with just deactivating the DOD for now. PLEASE use sound judgment when making that decision. Don't consider it the "fix all" either. You have to remember the whole DOD is a system that works in conjunction with other parts including 4 special lifters that help in the system.

These trucks really don't have a lot of problems, most "issues" tend to rest on the care of the previous owner(s). DOD is almost useless from day one.

got some updates. Not looking good

Lifters and cam is shot, Bad misfire cylinder #7. terrible lifter noise


Truck came from GUNN GMC out of Texas. apparently GUNN decided to only put a few lifters in the truck even though the cam was shot, piece it back together and send it on its way to an unsuspecting buyer.

Nice move GUNN- WHat a POS dealer


they also hacked up the main wiring harness which is leading to these electrical issues. So currently looking at roughly $2000 to replace wiring harness along with 4-5k for the topend repairs.

Wow! I'm sorry to hear. Do you have any way to try and get GM or the dealer to pay for any part of the repair costs?

I'd source some of the parts yourself, if possible. Just to keep cost down. Or just do a DOD delete/cam swap/tune. You'll be happier if you are keeping this vehicle long term. Come out cheaper.

yeah, I looked at the DOD delete kits you posted before from BTR. Definitely going that route if i pay for it myself. going to get the wiring harness from the dealer and let them install it. then will figure out which way to go with the cam and lifters
