Hey everyone, hope you're staying warm this winter season!

My 2004 Denali Project has been a great patience builder! I just re-pinned and soldered in a new connector for the driver side power/heated/memory seat harness after finding the connector melted from a power-ground short. Today when I put the seats back in to see if they work properly I found that the car won't start.

The motor cranks but instantly dies. The DIC doesn't display anything until after cranking where it reads "unknown driver" instead of "driver 1". At the same time, the security light flashes once then goes off. Seems like a security issue possibly due to having the battery out. I tried to program a key fob to see if that would help but the car would not program it. I also tried a "passkey/passlock" reset with no luck. From what I read my security light should flash or illuminate for 10 minutes and it doesn't so I'm unsure a relearn is possible. The car has been starting and running with no problems but now is acting up. Where do I begin with this one??

I've solved a couple of strange electrical issues by disconnecting the battery, waiting 10+ minutes, ground the positive lead and wait a few more minutes. No guarantee but then it doesn't cost anything either. Good luck....

Hey it's free and it can't hurt much. I'll try it! So disconnect the battery, ground the positive cable to the body, then try it again? Just waned to make sure I understood ya

That's it, good luck
I got nothing... same thing. DIC doesn't light up at all until after cranking. I'm gonna get a code read on it and see if I find anything. Other than that I'm lost, I need a scan tool! Thanks though, it was worth the try!

It's alright just trying to figure it out. Tried to hook up a scan tool and it won't read anything or communicate. I think the Passlock has completely disabled the vehicle :(

That would suck! If it did, what would you have to do?

UPDATE! So my friend came over and in all my frustration he said why not unplug the seat (mentioned earlier I was working on a power seat connector). Well, after 30 more minutes of dicking with it I tried it and bang she fired right up!

The master driver seat harness has 16 pins and uses 14 wires in my Denali. I tried to map it out but there are 2 brown w/ white striped wires and what do you know I put them in the wrong pins... switched them, plugged it back in and bang! She's running like a top again and the seat works. Now just have to figure out what else I need to address electrically, no wonder all the passlock security tomfoolery didn't work last night. Feeling very dumb it was that simple but hey you learn from it all!
