Negative effects of a tuner, and supporting mods?

That's pretty much what I was thinking, Though everything would be "better", wear would be increased due to harder shifts and more pressure which would exacerbate the poor design of our 8 speed transmissions.

in contrast.... heat is caused by slippage. the slower shifts allow for a longer slip time between gears engaging. the factory tune has a very mushy feeling to it if not tuned with more power the shifts feel even worse
Ive only tuned the 6l80 in mine but it looks like the 8l would follow suit. keep the torque management in between shifts. it allows a faster shift, reducing power while engaging, and then bringing full power back on when the shift is complete. there are a lot of tables to modify the feel, but it can be tuned to do it all much faster than the average person will realize.
