You gotta love when things go wrong. I remember when my passlock system was going bananas. It was great, the truck would just shut off at random times. Going 65 on the highway or 30 on back roads, it would just shut off. Towing my trailer 800 miles, shut off in a construction zone and had to pull over behind the Jersey barriers in the construction zone, hah. Yah that happened 5 times, all in different places between Boston and NC. The other crazy thing would be that it wouldnt start. It could take 10 minutes or for me almost 2 hours. The dealer wanted 1k to do the job.

Even after having some issues, I wont get rid of it. I have plans for it. It'll take time but they will get done.
Good luck with it, dont get frustrated its an older vehicle.
:)

Minus the transmission in mine (really was not bad yet when I rebuilt it, just starting to wear out at 150k or so) I've only replaced regular things (Hubs, Brakes and such). Of course things will break, it comes with owning an older vehicle. And it comes with owning a lifted truck. But for the most part, I've had nothing but good luck with mine. Take a look at some of the NBS and NNBS trucks, not that impressive. I see things go wrong all the time with them at work. When I get OBS trucks in, it's pretty amazing how well they last.

I have a 300k Tahoe (1996) come in every so often at work. I can tell you, it might be in better shape than mine. I'm coming up on 200k, and mine's doing pretty if you ask me.

Headliner looks great bud! I really like it.

Sure, things go wrong with these trucks, but they last. My truck (a '97) was my first vehicle. I got it from a family friend for $500...far far below KBB. When I got it, a co-worker told me that things would pretty much fall apart around the engine. How true, how true :)

However, it's at 252,000 miles. What can I expect. Some of this shit just wears out. The tranny was rebuilt (before I owned it) at 186,000 miles. I've probably done $3,000-4,000 worth of repairs/maintenance in the 2.5 years I've owned it. I've currently got a lengthy list of things that need to get done, but none are "mission critical". The most pressing is the power steering pressure hose, but new fluid can be a "band-aid" for the time being (I do plan to fix it thins weekend). My point is, she's old, and things fall apart, but she still runs great and gets me to work and back. You can't expect these older trucks to need no attention.
