Hey Folks...first post out here. Hope to stick around for a while. I just purchased a 2012 Yukon (picking it up tomorrow evening), and just have a few questions. Before I start, I'm giving up my trusty old 2005 Nissan Armada...this has been one hellova vehicle. Other than the abysmal brakes (finally fixed with some aftermarket rotors and pads), I couldn't have been happier with that truck. But...I'm coming up on 100K miles....need some tires, new rear brakes...and probably a pretty big service. At the end of the day, the work that I need done is probably about a quarter of the total value of the car. Sooo...for sh*ts and giggles I took a ride over to the local GMC dealer, and before I knew it, I was walking out calling my wife telling her I just bought a new car.

Anyway...that's my story. I don't know much about these trucks...just that I've wanted one for a long time. Before my Armada, I had an Expedition. So as you can see, I'm kinda into trying different stuff. I'm hoping this one will live up to both the old 2001 Expedition and the 2005 Armada. The only questions I have out of the gate are the following:

First....regarding the seat belt warning...I don't wear a seat belt (please spare me the lectures...I'm 40 years old, and you aint gonna teach this old dog new tricks ;). What I want to know is...is there an audible warning...and if so, does it shut off or does it continually ring. I tried searching, and while I thought I saw some posts saying it continues to ring, I watched a few videos as well, and the drivers didn't have their belts on...all I saw was the blinking light...no noise. I'm really hoping there is no noise, and if there is, I'm gonna have to disable that thing...it'll drive me crazy!
The only other question I have is...and I'm not even sure this is a question...on my test ride, I felt like the truck was bouncing around a little more than my Armada. This thing comes with the 20" wheels...compared to the 17s on my Armada, I'm wondering if this is gonna affect road feel considerably. It's also possible that I was just on a bumpy stretch of highway...after all...we were only on that part of the highway for about a mile.
I suppose if it's problematic, they'll have to fix it....and I'm probably jumping the gun before I even have the truck. But that's what we do I guess.
The last question that I have is this...I opted to get that Simonize treatment done as I purchased a black truck. I've never had this done on any of my vehicles before and I was just wondering if anyone else had had that done, and if so, what are your thoughts on it?

Anyway....thanks for taking the time to read my first post. I know it was a long one. I'm pretty good at rambling. I'll make sure to post some pics as soon as I have them.
Thanks again!

Hi there ... welcome aboard and congrats on the new purchase.

I promise you you're going to want to punch yourself in the nards for not getting a yukon sooner, and you'll want to kiss the mirror for finally buying one. :)

The chime will go on every minute or so if you don't fasten your seatbelt as will the passenger one unless you're shlepping a very little person as it goes by ass weight.

Not sure what the deal with the bouncing is, and I never buy the Simonize stuff so I dunno. Usually any time a buy a vehicle is have it clayed and hand waxed and go from there.

Pics when you get her home or from the listing. :waytogo:

Thanks for the warm welcome man. I will definitely post pics when I have 'em. Not too worried about the 'bouncing' thing. It may have just been that road. If there's any problem at all, it's brand new, so I'm sure they'll handle it.

The seat belt thing is a little bit of a problem though...cause like I said...I don't wear it. So...either I have to find a belt clip that fits (maybe from a junkyard or something)....or I have to disable that. That will make me crazy. Wondering if this is an easy thing to turn off?!?

Thanks again man!!! I'm sure I'll be really happy with this thing. BTW...I know there's a lot of Tahoe guys here too...I really dig those things too...but the Yukons just do it for me. I think I just like the GMC logo better ;)

Welcome to the board and congrats on your new Yukon.

As soulsea so discreetly hinted to you, I'm sure you will be very happy with your decision.

I have a bit of experience with the Armada and, to me, it was night and day. Love my Yukon.

While I definitely don't endorse not wearing the belt, you are on the right track with finding a clip if you don't want the warning sounds every minute.

As to the bouncy ride, I'm pretty certain it was that stretch of road as you said. These trucks ride very smooth.

+1 for the pictures and enjoy it in good health.

Welcome and Congrats

On the bouncy ride it could be the road or the tires are over inflated. I just had my snow tires removed and the Summer one installed. The dealer over inflated by 4 psi and it rode terribly. I let some air out and the ride changed immediately and felt like it should.

Have fun and good luck

I have an 08 Yukon and the seatbelt chime never really gets on my nerves. Not like say, a Honda Civic or a F350<---BOTH of those were so annoying I wanted to pull my hair out. Sometimes I don't wear one, short trips, running to the store at the lake, whatever. I will say that Chevy and GM have the least annoying seatbelt chime, IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I haven't really looked into it, but can you not turn down the chime volume from the DIC?

Congrats on your truck, give it a day and you'll wonder why you ever drove a ford or a nissan. I LOVE my Yukon.
