Thanks again guys, for the welcomes. So, I picked up the new truck yesterday...and I have to say...this is an impressive vehicle.
First, let me start by saying...I grew very attached to my Armada....so I will miss it. I had it for 7 years...so it really was like an extension of me. Everything was where I was used to it...you guys know how it is. It was far superior to the Expedition before it, and I really liked it a lot.

But enough of that. This new Yukon is more refined...quite a bit. Not quite as powerful....but I'm not driving this to go fast. So I don't really miss that. I'll take the smooth ride and nicer interior any day.

Funny story though...I bought my truck this past Saturday..it was raining out that day. So when I saw the truck, it was black...or so I thought. When i went to pick it up yesterday, it was about 7pm...so there was just a sliver of sunlight hitting the front of the truck...that's when I realized that this thing had metallic flakes....I knew it was called "carbon black metallic"...I just didn't put two and two together.
Fortunately...it looks great....so I don't mind. And looking at the window sticker shows that it was a couple hundred bucks extra for this paint...so, bonus! With the big 20" chrome wheels, this thing looks really killer. I still am waiting for my chrome grille and mud guards (should have them in a few days)...but I did take a few pictures. These were from my phone, so forgive me...they definitely don't do this thing justice. When the accessories are on, I promise, I'll take some proper photos. But for now...just a couple taken this evening. You tell me this thing aint black ;)
I'll tell you one thing. It's a good thing I ended up liking the paint...cause at that point, I had already signed all the paperwork. Just goes to show you...don't go car shopping on a rainy day!

Thanks again!

Todd

Nice truck. You'll love it. I got mine a month and a half ago and I love it. I'm surprised you said the Armada felt more powerful. I believe yours has around 400 HP so its hard to imagine the Armada would have more power but maybe I'm wrong. Just a fair warning, you'll get addicted to modding the truck. I know I caught the fever.

Only the Denali's have the 6.2L which is rated at 403hp... the normal Yukon SLE/SLT has a 5.3L which is rated at 320hp.

Felix, why does the 07-08 only have 380 HP and the newer ones have 403? It's the same engine I believe. I was just curious where they squeezed the extra 23 HP. I got mine BB tuned so I hope I made up that lost HP. If not, I should after put in a CAI.

They used to tune the older version differently to give esky owners something 'extra' for their higher sticker price.

Yes...I it is growing on me quickly. My truck has the 5.3 liter....which is rated somewhere around..what is it..320 HP?...something like that. Don't remember what the Armada had...it was definitely quicker off the line. But like I said before...I didn't buy a truck to go fast. I have a six speed 335i with a twin turbo and 300 hp...that's plenty quick for me...

Tomorrow the truck goes in for some chrome goodies. I did forget to mention in my last post...the seatbelt thing. It doesn't bother me at all. With the stereo on, I don't hear the chime at all. So...no issue there.

Only one problem so far, and it was self inflicted...or self inflicted by proxy...my kid went to get in the back seat tonight and grabbed the rear door...she pulled it open and it REALLY flew open. In her defense, the Armada had heavier doors...but in pulling the door open so hard, she actually pulled it slightly out of alignment...not in a noticeable way...but I can...feel it. I threw some door edge guards on the front doors and it's invisible. Still...it bummed me out. What am I gonna do...get mad at my 7 year old daughter? Nah...I never get mad at her...no matter what she does.
Oh well.

Other than that little snafu...this thing has been a pleasure to get to know. It rides great, handles like a car, and the interior is a much higher quality than my old SE Armada (with it's cheaper plastics and cloth seats)...I actually haven't had leather in any truck since I started driving trucks...it's a nice change.

Anyway..thanks again for the compliments...I will post some higher quality pics when the rest of my goodies have been put on.
Until then...

Todd
