A guy told me that if I get a 6 inch lift kit its recommended to change gears to help with the increace of MPG, wanted to see if this is a good advice or just BS to make money off me

Gears are huge. Yes definatly. It will also help with the loss of power. It really only helps when you get bigger tires, but im sure with a 6" lift your going to get bigger tires. So yes definatly. How much bigger depends on the size you get, Genrally 4.56 are good gears with 35" tires.

Well, the gears are to compensate for the larger tires that will likely accompany a lift. But yes, if you go up in tire size, you should (ideally) gear down.

I'm thinking 33" BFG AT Tires with 17 Eagle Alloy wheels, what gears is recommended?

The good news it that a gear swap for you is way cheaper than some of us with 4x4, you just need to do the rear. Depending on the milage of the truck do the whole rear at that time.

4.10 is a good gear for 33's you can go 4.56, but if its going to see alot of highway your better off just sticking with 4.10's
