Hey, Im buying a new engine for my 13' yukon XL, Im thinking about getting the bare LSX 454 block and transfer components from my current LS engine 5.3L to make it more cost efficient. Im hopeful it wont be to difficult to do considering the engines are both LS models. The whole reason why I am doing this is because when I drive my yukon it feels so heavy plus with the exra weight of add ons and the lift kit plus when I get my new 35" general grabbers its going to be really slow. I hopeful with a new 454 it will put out 500 to 600hp. Should I be weary of anything?

You need a lot more parts than just a block. I agree with above, 4:56 gears will help get rid of the sluggish feel. Supercharger with some bolt on goodies will be much cheaper.

This is the 454 Block I am planning on purchasing. I have spoke to a mechanical engineer, he does suggest that I re-gear, but he stated that all other engine components that don't come with the new engine should be compatible for my 5.3L, except I will buy a new intake manifold. Someone is buying my 5.3L for $5,000 so that why I am moving towards getting a new engine which the 454 is $9,000.
