Appreciate it swath. It’s AWD and unfortunately I purchased it from a wholesaler for a below market value price so they didn’t offer many resources. Car fax came back pretty decent as it had a minor collision on the front fender but all in all it runs and drives great. I checked it over myself and noticed the trans cooler lines starting to seep at the crimps so I found a set of ac Delco lines on rock auto for about 60 bucks. I just gotta check whether it has the hd cooling setup or the standard before I order. Trans fluid is clean and at the right level so it’s not a huge leak at the moment.

If the CarFax shows any dealerships, you can contact them and ask for copies of the service records. You can contact GMC and or Compnine.com and decode your VIN and get a list of the RPO codes and other information. The former is free and may take a couple days, the latter costs $5 and is instant.

K5L is the Enhanced Cooling Package and KNP is for the external transmission cooler in front of the A/C Condensor. Mine are weeping too but not enough yet to bother with. New ones sitting under my work bench.

Check all your driveline fluids and consider changing them now or at the 100k service interval. The transmission has an internal oil life monitor that can only be seen and reset by advanced scan tools like the Tech2.

Strongly suggest that you get a BlackBear tune to disable your L94s AFM and make the truck more driveable.

Definitely appreciate the tips. I posted another thread in the engine/drivetrain section a few days ago asking anyone for advice on preventative measures I can take after hearing about the lifter nightmares and stuff but most were on the 5.3’s so I wasn’t sure where the 6.2 was at for reliability. I didn’t get any responses on that thread though.

Appreciate it grey. Does tuning out the afm decrease fuel mileage by THAT much?

Welcome Scott Nice ride. I bet you are sick of the snow. That's why I left Connecticut 40 years ago.
Appreciate the welcome. Yea if I didn’t have all my immediate family up here I’d probably head down to maybe the Carolinas.

The AFM components are the same or nearly so. There are improved parts now that offer greater reliability but I do not know what year engines got those or if they were introduced as replacements. It is best to remove AFM physically from the engine as the De-Ac lifters can still collapse even if not used for dropping cylinders. Even the non-AFM lifters have been known to fail, around Christmas two Denalis on this here forum had them fail and needed replacing. Dirty oil however is the engine's worst enemy as is sludge. Many develop problems because they bought a truck that had had regular crappy oil in it and changed it every 7500 miles, long after it was dead. Then the new owner comes along and puts Mobil One synthetic which begins to loosen and clean all that crud out and it starts moving through the system and creates problems.

At the very least get one of those Range AFM devices or preferably a BlackBear tune. Then when you can, tear down the top half of the engine and remove the AFM components and put in a new camshaft. Then you'll have Gen III reliability with Gen IV durability.
