i'm pretty sure that ground strap is only there in case a hotwire came loose inside the engine compartment and somehow made contact with the hood so you couldn't be shocked. nothing else makes any sense.

i called the parts store here and they have a universal strap..will that work or should I go for the OEM part.?..

If the quality is decent, it shouldn't matter. Especially for the hood strap. The other one, I would just give a good visual inspection as it's a bit tricky to get to. If you want to go after it or it looks corroded, take it off and clean the connection points.
