oil and water? :)
Hey, just wanted to introduce myself. I finally got around to registering after doing a little research on my newly acquired 1999 Tahoe (4dr, 4wd, LT). It's got late model 20" Tahoe wheels and aftermarket side steps and I plan to leave it mostly stock otherwise.

I just need to do some small things. First up is fix the passenger side door hinge pins. Brakes are very soft compared to the ABS in my Accord, so I'm leaning toward braided lines. I know it also needs the weatherstripping replaced out back, but I live in AZ, so it is a little back burner for now. The steering seems very "loose", but I haven't looked into that yet. Fluid changes and a new drive shaft seal are in the near future, too.

Anyway, my name's Dennis. Hopefully, I won't ask TOO many dumb questions. I'll post a clean pic tonight or tomorrow.

Outstanding. Welcome. I went from a 2005 Civic to my Hoe when the civic, me, and my wife were hit head on, and the civic blew up around us. On the first day of our honeymoon. No more small rigs for us.

The brakes are abhorrent in these rigs, but with new fluid, and braided lines up front you'll have little trouble. We're here for you when your fuel pump and alternator go out too, btw. They should pretty soon, not to jinx you.

ya, the brakes will feel soft compared to your Accord - that's normal.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I was talking to a mechanic friend of mine about the driveshaft (or propeller shaft?) seal and he said the transfer case needed to come out to do it. I did a (very) quick search, but didn't see anything indicating such. Is he jerking me around? Sounds expensive for (what appears to be) a simple fix.

It doesn't need to come out, had mine changed out twice.

If your wheel is moving back and fourth with out turning the wheels then check your pitman arm.

SS brakelines are cheap. A dealer on Ebay sells them from Canada. Make him an offer for $50 bucks and he send them to you! 2 Front lines and 1 for the rear!

Hoes are like Hondas...take care of them and they will take care of you!
