Just got a 03 Tahoe Z71... Got a few plans for it. All stock right now. I've been installing for over 9 years and currently work at the Southcenter CarToys so if any of you have any install questions, I'll try my best to help ya out... I've got a few of my own questions that some of you might be able to help me out with.. One thing is my shift indacator light isnt work. I'm assuming its just a buld behind the cluster, but havent checked it out yet. Anyone came accross this? Also, a handful of dash lights are not working. Such as the 4WD low button light, the parking like switch light and a few of the steering wheel button lights. Are these hard to replace? Thanks for any help...

Welcome along man!
I can;t really help you on your issues as I have an 07 and don;t really know how to fix those.
If you post in the 00-06 section i'm pretty sure someone will know how to fix that?

Welcome to the forums Darren! :welcome: Happy to have you here. There are a few other installers here as well, nice to have more brains to pick with questions. As far as the lights not working they are LEDs and most of them aren't hard to replace. I believe on the 03's they do require soldering however. I'm sure being an audio installer that is not an issue for you. Just a matter of prying open the dash.

Welcome.. I gotta Q. I have a Grand prix with subs in the trunk and stock speakers inside the doors.. I was wondering if you think there might be wires hooked up to the speakers inside for the system or no?? I hope thats not confusing lol but I'm asking because only 1 of the door speakers is working right now and i'm thinking about tryin to see if i can get them replaced under my cars warrenty or not. Obviously if there are wires hooked up to the door speakers because of the system then that option will be a no go. lol

The only way the dealership can deny warranty is if the aftermarket sub DIRECTLY caused the said speaker to become inoperable per the Magnuson-Moss Act. The only way for that to happen is if the sub is wired and powered directly to that channel, causing that channel in the stock deck (or stock amp) to overheat and burn out due to the lower impedance load. In this case, it would actually be the audio source that is bad, not the speaker itself. If the speaker itself is bad, the sub would not cause that spkr to go bad, therefore the dealership can not deny warranty coverage.
If it was wired correctly with an LOC, you shouldn't have any issues with warranty at all. Hopefully I made some sense. I've been installing for almost 18 yrs and had accounts with a few dealerships, so I know a little about how warranty and aftermarket products tie in together:)

Hi Dr. Rob. What's the best location for stashing the HD RAdio receiver in an '02 Tahoe? (The primary objective being to keep it as hidden as possible? (I don't have OnStar or Bose, and I'm also installing a new Kenwood receiver with the HD RAdion adapter.) Thanks.
