Excuse me for the initial long post. On Jan 113 2015 I purchased a 2015 Tahoe LTZ. The truck had 1034 miles on it when purchased. I was told it was not a Demo (Story is the Owner used it on a family trip). The dealer did take $500 off or mileage. We did not like the pinstripe that was added so we asked them on condition of the sale to remove it and to fix a few interior scuffs that we noticed. As we are signing paperwork, they finished detailing and getting ready to drive home. After we get the Tahoe home and into the garage we noticed 8 scratch marks in the location of the beginning and end of the pinstripes that we had removed. We immediately brought this to the dealers attention, with the promise of making it right. We are now being faced with a an option of repainting a Brand New White Diamond Tahoe or living with scratches and receiving a monetary compensation for it. I personally do not want a brand new vehicle painted, all I want is the vehicle I paid for minus 8 scratches. Easy for me, find another Tahoe and replace it. The dealer says no because it has been titled. Question is, what is the monetary compensation for something like this and are there other ways to go about this?

Are the scratches bad enough that they can't be buffed out? Sounds like they used a razor blade to start taking off the pinstripes instead of a fingernail.

Now that it's titled they'd have to sell it as a used car and lose thousands of dollars. I wouldn't want a repainted 2015 either though.

Bad situation...

I would live with it. Technically they don't have to do anything for you. You legally took delivery of the vehicle by driving it off the lot after paperwork had been signed. If there was not a we owe for something promised its kind of a as is deal. The scratches are most likely from when the stripe was installed. I'm guessing double stripe. 2 cuts on each front fender and 2 more on each quarter panel where they cut it. I would say chaulk it up to a life lesson and look closer if in a similar situation. Definantly sucks though.

This sucks.

Post pictures of the scratches.

This is why I do not let them even wash my car at the dealer.

You have idiots working there..... on all levels.

The Dealer probably didn't install the pinstripes. That was probably done by an outside vendor for about $30. The "scratches" are probably from cutting the ends of the pinstripe at the time of installation.
You need to decide if you would rather look at the "scratches" or have the pinstripes put back on the vehicle.:sorrysign:

It does look like they where done when they were put on. The dealer said they got the vehicle on trade from another dealership. They have tried to buff them out however nothing is working. The dealership did promise to get the scratches taken care of along with several other items. Now that they are deep and can not be buffed out things are getting difficult. They still have the truck so I am not able to provide pictures just yet. After I found the scratches on my truck I walked around and sure enough on the showroom floor a 2015 Silverado with pinstripes had the same deep scratches, again they said it was from another dealership. I guess I am just trying to figure out what amount of compensation is enough.

live with it, take the cash. How about 1% of purchase price or have him through in a GMPPP extended warranty they are retail about a grand but the dealer cost is less.

I am meeting with the dealer today to see what we can come up with. As of right now they have had my vehicle in the shop longer than I have had it. Seeing that I already purchased the extended warranty it will be just a cash settlement. I am having a difficult time putting a price on it, seeing that it looks like I will have to live with the scratches.

How deep are these scratches? Can you catch your fingernail on them? I would think a decent detailer or body man could make them at least not very noticeable. Pics would be fantastic.

They are deep enough that your finger nail catches on them. The dealer has sent it to the body shop and after they did all they can do, the nail still catches on them.
