New Onstar Agreement Update email

I noticed someone posted on one of the links you provided that the blue OnStar light would go out once the "data connection" link is terminated. That is different information than I was told by OnStar on 09-19-11. We'll see what happens.

OnStar never provided me with an email update to their stated "right" to steal my personal information without my prior approval. Guess that's because I provided the jerks with a fake email address.

I do hope a class-action lawsuit is filed against OnStar.

I started the thread on the Corvette Forum. I cancelled OnStar in all 3 of my cars.

Ok, they can track fuel ups (when, where), fuel economy, speed, location, other things that your car already tracks (engine rpm, braking, etc). I have a facebook but only so my family in the Philippines can stay in touch. I don't know about the rest of the garbage such as twitter.

Here is one thing I find interesting in the new Terms and Conditions. As an owner of my OnStar equipped Yukon, Onstar said I must notify people that my vehicle has onstar including passengers. Why and the heck should a passenger care?

I paid $149 a year per vehicle and received about $2-3 off per month per car for insurance. No more!

Before you start connecting crap from the OnStar remember that onstar can prevent your vehicle from starting and slow it down if it is within the last couple of years. That means onstar is wired into the car's ignition system somehow.

To me, OnStar just became useless. I'm having them deactivate it and I'm watching the lights to make sure they go off.

Of course if you are desperate enough to get onstar, onstar now sells OnStar in a box for "most" vehicles.

And I don't break laws but I don't need to be tracked or watched to make sure I don't break the laws.

Interesting that the GM goons aren't providing information on how vehicle owners can disable the OnStar spy system, huh?

Maybe the ACLU will take an interest in this since it affects such a large group.

You can only terminate the connection, unplug power, or antennas.

This OnStar debacle was on the Drudgereport News Page it has 30 million viewers a day!

Watch out, eventually this crap will become mandatory in new vehicles. OBD III is supposed to be able to send an alarm if your emissions are not in specs. It wouldn't be hard to do with onstar right now especially since they share info with the DMV.

Guess I might as well start looking for that old Bronco or Scout afterall and retrofitting it with all the latest stuff I can get. Perhaps we'll all have to go back to building our own cars if we don't want to be on the grid or under constant monitoring. Haha, we'll even have to take the battery our of our cell phones when we travel or leave them at home. I forgot what it was like to drive 200+ miles or even to the store without my cell phone.
