The OnStar unit archives all the data, unplugging the cell antenna connector won't help because the next time you plug it in(in an emergency) it spews out a data burst from memory.

The VSS wire would cut speed and distance info, the farka gps connector would cut GPS info.

I wonder if there is a way to remove some wires from the connector to disable collection of certain data

after reading that ******** summary, the scales are definitely tipping towards trading in the Denali...

Do EDR's download data to the ECM? or a central location?
Or do the EDR's keep the data at the sensor for crash forensics?
I guess the OBD would download from all the different sensors.

Oh I don't care about an EDR, that's fine with me. I don't want Onstar selling my info to marketing agencies to figure out how to make a profit on a service that's already charging too much.

I don't subscribe to OnStar. After reading their updated Privacy Statement that takes effect December 1, 2011, I just called 1-888-466-7827 to get the "data connection" to my vehicle deactivated, and was told that someone from their "Customer Loyalty Team" would have to call me on Monday, September 19, 2011 between 8:00 A.M. and 11:00 P.M. EST to discuss the matter!!!!!!!

Geez, that ought to be an interesting phone conversation. I don't have OnStar, and it sounds like they're going to try and get me to subscribe, rather than deactivate the "data connection" to my vehicle.

I received a call from OnStar this morning telling me that the "data connection" to my vehicle had been deactivated, and the lights would go off on my mirror.

Well, guess what. I just checked the mirror and every damn light is still lit up! So I called OnStar back a few minutes ago and was told it would take up to 14 days for the deactivation to occur. Something tells me I'll be calling OnStar again in two weeks, and getting confirmation that the "data connection" has really been deactivated is going to turn into a federal case. :upyours:

Anyone know if the fuse panel has a fuse just for OnStar? If so, I'll pull the fuse out and shoot it dead with my .38 special. :gr_guns:

Let's quit messing around with which wire to cut and figure out how to bring down a satellite that has a big blue O on it.

:)
