Hello to the forum, I am a new owner of a 2009 Tahoe SSV. I have been on here absorbing as much knowledge as i can before I make this post asking a few questions that i havent been able to answer by digging around in here as of yet.
Anyhow heres a quick intro of myself and to let everyone know that im not a complete newbie in the automotive world.
39 yrs old, current and past occupations are technical. Im automotive enthusiast but mainly focus on offroad, diesel (large and small) and a little bit of everything in between. I have experience in a multitude of skills and trades so tackling most tasks is not a issue (blessing and a curse lol)
This rig has been purchased to upgrade the fleet for my wife and child. She loves the subdued look of this tahoe but there are a few things we want to change to make it more of the rig we want.
Anyhow, heres the questions in no particular order.
1. Definitely going to upgrade the audio/sound system. Planning on going aftermarket head unit with backup camera. The rear door speakers: is there wiring already in place or will new wire need to be run? Also is there wiring in place for the pillar speakers?
2. We would really like to lift the truck just high enough to clear a 33" tall tire. Im not really clear on what it will need since it currently has the "trooper" stance as most people i know call it. Not wanting a trail rig but would still like to be able to use 4x4 on something other that wet grass
3. The interior and exterior lights will be converted to LED bulbs . I know that on some vehicles installing LED's causes bulb out warnings to pop up or other weird effects. Will that be the case with the Hoe?
4. Will the Airaid MIT tube fit the stock filter box?
Upgrades or mods already planned after Christmas : DIC panel, Driving/Fog lights, Headlight bulb upgrade and tinting the tail lights. Possibly modifying the step bars to fit closer to the body. and a few other odds and ends.
Planning on a full tune up and service including plugs, filters, fluids and any other maintenance items in the next few weeks.
