Hello to the forum, I am a new owner of a 2009 Tahoe SSV. I have been on here absorbing as much knowledge as i can before I make this post asking a few questions that i havent been able to answer by digging around in here as of yet.
Anyhow heres a quick intro of myself and to let everyone know that im not a complete newbie in the automotive world.
39 yrs old, current and past occupations are technical. Im automotive enthusiast but mainly focus on offroad, diesel (large and small) and a little bit of everything in between. I have experience in a multitude of skills and trades so tackling most tasks is not a issue (blessing and a curse lol)
This rig has been purchased to upgrade the fleet for my wife and child. She loves the subdued look of this tahoe but there are a few things we want to change to make it more of the rig we want.
Anyhow, heres the questions in no particular order.

1. Definitely going to upgrade the audio/sound system. Planning on going aftermarket head unit with backup camera. The rear door speakers: is there wiring already in place or will new wire need to be run? Also is there wiring in place for the pillar speakers?

2. We would really like to lift the truck just high enough to clear a 33" tall tire. Im not really clear on what it will need since it currently has the "trooper" stance as most people i know call it. Not wanting a trail rig but would still like to be able to use 4x4 on something other that wet grass

3. The interior and exterior lights will be converted to LED bulbs . I know that on some vehicles installing LED's causes bulb out warnings to pop up or other weird effects. Will that be the case with the Hoe?

4. Will the Airaid MIT tube fit the stock filter box?

Upgrades or mods already planned after Christmas : DIC panel, Driving/Fog lights, Headlight bulb upgrade and tinting the tail lights. Possibly modifying the step bars to fit closer to the body. and a few other odds and ends.
Planning on a full tune up and service including plugs, filters, fluids and any other maintenance items in the next few weeks.

The previous owner had it for 5 yrs and was not used as a patrol vehicle. I will be doing maintenance within the next couple of weeks just to get it on my schedule. So far the mileage seems pretty good for what it is. The only issue as of the first week of ownership is that the fuel gauge isn't correct. It reads 3/4 tank when filled up.

I believe all the wiring is there it's just not plugged in.

Q#3

No you will not get any weird side effects from swapping to LED....

Except...

The turn signals will flash fast (hyperflash) unless you add a resistor to the turn signal wiring or have your BCM reflashed to ignore the "bulb out" indicator. There is no flasher module to change out like there was on the older models.

Aren't the rear window switches and/or the door latch and/or lock rods disconnected, too?

I have a 2010 ssv ex border patrol and when I got it, didn’t have sound our back or interior door handles that didn’t work. Both rear speakers were bad but wiring was in tact. The door handle cables were just unhooked.

They seem decent at not hacking stuff up. Most issues I’ve had so far were just broken components not hacked.

I can’t say what it takes to fit 33” tires as I have stock size and lowered.

Thank you to everyone that has replied so far.
Im thinking i might have the time and budget to go ahead with the periodic maintenance this weekend. It also needs a thorough cleaning inside, out and definitely under the hood.
Here's two more questions.
1. Is there a way to diagnose the fuel gauge issue without tearing into it or throwing un needed parts at it? If its a stepper motor issue like the previous generation, im not intimidated by replacing the individual motor.
2. On my other vehicles , when i clean the engine bay i just use aerosol engine cleaner and simple green or something similar. Will cleaning the Hoe be as straight forward? Or is there specific areas/components that need to be covered?
