New owner here looking to lower my Tahoe

I just bought a 99 Tahoe and am interested in lowering it a couple inches. I am planning on 22" wheels with 285/45 tires because I have a boat that I need to tow. My boat is 20ft and is set up on the trailer so the tongue wait is 250lbs max. Does anyone have the type of set up I'm looking for and if so I would like to know what kit you have and any issues you encountered doing this.

On a side note when I inspected the Tahoe before buying it I noticed body spacers but I wasn't sure if it was a body lift or they were factory. To me it looks like it sits kind of high.

That does look kinda high to me, and I dont know much about lowering one LMC has a page in there catalog u can view it online saying what u need to drop it for each amount, a few diff places u can go for lowering parts, just gives u an idea

it has been quit around here for a few weeks lately. dont worry someone will chime in on your lowering idea. i personally refuse to get involved with vehicle lowering myself. sorry.

Havent been on too much, missed your thread. Pics of the body mounts? Kinda looks like mine used to be on 3" blocks. I have a 99 hoe that I did a 4/6 drop on with a kit Tony (NorcalSS) set me up with. I'm on tiny 17's but within the month will hopefully be getting my 22's and start bagging it. Hit up tony, awesome guy to deal with!

looks like a 5 lug and no tow hooks, so 2wd.

Does look kinda high for a 2wd too. Probably does have a 3" body lift.


I'd start with removing the body lift or whatever lift is on it and finding a better set of wheels that aren't as wide.

Thanks for chiming in everyone. I will take better pics tomorrow. From the angle the truck looks like it sits high however when I got underneath it I didnt see where the bumper had been raised or body gaps that would be associated with a body lift. I think they may be stock but not sure.

In rear check to see if there is a lifting block between the axle and leafs.


In front take a pic of the spring area might just have lifting springs

here is another pic from the side. there are no lifting blocks and the springs look stock. I think it might just be the way it looks with the wheels and tires that are on it now. I am looking at a set of 22" Irocs with either 285/45's or 305/45's and for lowering I am going to start with 2" spindles and 2" shackles since I need to tow with it.
