Ugh. No Yuk XLs anywhere that are black with heavy duty tow and 2nd row buckets. Seems like GM likes to pair heavy duty tow with bench seats. I'm gonna have to do a custom order, looks like.

Since I get to pick out everything, anyone running the Borla catback? Worth $1k?

Check the performance section on here, there is a couple of sound clips from the Borla exhaust. Sounds really good, although I'm a bit biased towards the Corsa exhaust myself. ;)

thats pretty interesting, when I got the wife's escalade and was shopping denalis, finding a bench was a nightmare, they actually swapped the bench into it for me and pulled the buckets. I don't think you'll have a hard time finding someone who wants your bench if you go that route. The suburban has buckets, since I usually have the third row out its a 4 seat truck, the caddy is the planned baby mover, and since the 3rd row will be folded, and a child seat a 3 seat truck sounded really really stupid. My only regret was getting a shorty, I have a feeling we'll outgrow it in a few years if more kids come our way, but the esky was enough of an adjustment for her from her maxima. Even though these days she even says your truck rides nicer than mine with 130k miles, why? I said wheelbase honey, that and you stab the pedals like a crazy soccer mom.

On a side note, I"m pretty sure there isn't a max tow package for the denalis, they're all setup to tow, might be an option for you if you can find a deal on one. (the stupid caddy on the other hand doesn't come with an integrated brake controller, have to use a pigtail and aftermarket)

Just heard from my dealer and he found a match. He'll know by tomorrow afternoon if he can get it for me. Fingers crossed.

Sounds like you're family is just starting out. I'm well past baby seat days - my oldest (13) is almost 6' tall. So, yes, you will definitely outgrow that shorty at some point! You have a lot of years before that happens, though...

Oh, cool. I'd searched YouTube and only found one clip. I will head over to the perf section. Looks like my dealer may have found me a truck, though, so if do a catback it will be an aftermarket install (I was hoping to sneak it past my wife :))

That is true. Confirmed with the dealer. Coming from a Raptor, though, the Denali is just to chromed-out for my taste. I want a more aggressive look, so am sticking to 18" wheels and as little chrome as possible. I'll probably wrap the window chrome in black vinyl to hide it.

I do wish I could get the 6.2 in a SLT, but I guess GM figures no one would buy a Denali if they offered that.

My wife liked the Tahoe and the Escalade, I was leaning towards the Denali to get the 6.2 and 8 speed. She hated all the chrome as well. So eventually I said screw it with a baby on the way I'm not getting a new Z06, guess its a family truckster for her instead.

Damn. Dealer's find fell through. No one can find me a black SLT with 2nd row buckets, heavy duty towing, 18" wheels. All the trucks have bench seats or no heavy towing. Argh. I either have to do a custom order, or go for a Denali... but I really don't care for all the bling. Do I want to pay extra for a truck whose aesthetics I don't like as much (but that has a better motor) that I can have now, or order exactly what I want and wait months? If I order and it came in, say, mid July - would I have to put on 1,000 miles before towing anything? (I had to do that in my Ford.)

I have a Tahoe so I've got the 5.3L and really can't find much fault in it but I really do wish Chevy offered the 6.2L on the Tahoe as I would have definitely opted for it. I don't think you'd be disappointed in the Denali one bit and in reality the "bling" on a Denali can easily be toned down or removed.

Went down and drove the Denali. It was loaded, bringing MSRP to 78k. That's too rich for my blood, even at invoice. (I get supplier pricing, which is about the same as invoice.) Honestly, compared to the 6.2 in my Raptor it was just OK in terms of power. It wasn't appreciably better than the 5.3 to me and not worth the extra coin - after all, it's going to live on the highway and not off-road. In the end, I placed an order for the SLT I wanted. Hope to get it at the end of June or early July. Now I have time to research mods, I guess. (Vinyl over some of the chrome?)

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Congrats on the order! Sounds like you got all that you need and want and all at a good price. Very easy to catch the mod bug. :) I just ordered some vinyl wrap to give it a go at getting rid of some more of the chrome on my Tahoe LT.
