After driving it for two hours this weekend I think I'm going to buy the range device. It was bugging me going from v8 to v4 while I was driving it. After last fill up were getting close to 13-14 mostly city suburbs so I guess that it normal especially in the winter. Thanks.

I didn't know much about the AFM when I first got my Tahoe but after reading about it I noticed it and bothered the hell out of me so I had to disable it.

Here's one on ebay going for $90... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Range-AFM-Chip/122973725054?hash=item1ca1ce217e:g:OeQAAOSw38BadOXu&vxp=mtr
Gotta be careful though, i have read about some people complaining that it stops working every so often. I never experienced it with mine and it was plugged in for about a year with no issue.

Just to add to what the others said, turning it off is no guarantee. Had mine disabled on my 2013 Burb since 50,000 and last week at 102,000 one of the lifters compressed catastrophically while on the highway. You’ll know if/when it happens because it’s the worst valve tick you ever heard in your life. Seems pretty random, the engine made no noise previously and didn’t burn any oil between changes. If you do the mechanical delete eventually, the kits are ok but charge a premium. You can save a couple hundred (depending) by buying the parts separately through a GM parts wholesaler.

My two cents on disabling it would be to find a used diablosport I-1000 vs the range device, then you could also have some rudimentary tuning ability as well.

Thanks for the good news lol. Seems like this just happens and we're all playing the odds. I just hope we pay it off before having major issues.

No, there’s nothing wrong with these motors, the afm is an awesome feature and the lifter design, no words to describe....thank you GM, thank you.
