Got the power steering pump in. That was a really ****** experince...
Well, I guess it wasn't the pump. After all that hell... Apparently it was the line; which was also pure hell!
Now the steering is nice and tight. Almost like my Camaro. Now I really hate the EVO system. What imbecile thought that crap was a good idea? I guess it would have to be the same tards that designed the rest of the power steering system.
Followup;
1. Does the fob look the same as the one for the 99? I was at AZ and looked at the replacement covers and noticed the 96 wasn't listed on the back of the one that matched the 99.
2. A/C was not charged and vacuumed down. No leaks... Cleaned orifice tube, vacuumed and recharged. Then found out the valves leak, FML. Figured Id test and see if the caps hold, and they do. Tossed in a second can and she's nice and cold
3. Still havent revisited this. Front tires are indeed fu'ed, so Im going to replace them with at least some decent used ones before digging any further as the front end components look fine.
4. Fixed, as mentioned above.
5. Discovered there is actual rust damage under the top weather stripping. Hoping Bondo, paint, and adhesive can help me here. Any input?
6. Fixed, as mentioned above.
7. Changing the switch did indeed fix my power mirrors, so big thanks for that!
8. Havent had a chance to look into this yet. Only have contact cleaner. Am I supposed to spray this stuff all in the motor or on the switches or just on the connectors?
9. White smoke... Only see it here and there at startup. Earlier I didnt see any when moving to driveway. Then after a few of my fixes today I take a quick run down the road (test run) and it smoked quite a bit. Hmmmm?
