what difference in routine unkeep / maintenance I would expect versus the 5.3/6.2?
during warranty
other than having to add DEF (either at the pump or via a jug) and a greater importance on fuel filter changes; maintenance is basically the same (both of these are in the dash)
in diesel land you will need to know which diesel to use if you live in a cold climate

after warranty is over (> 100k)
the gaser's will need spark plugs
the diesel's will need a timing belt

pretty much all the pain has been removed from diesel ownership

3.0l diesel has a timing chain not a belt. It does have a wet belt for the oil pump which has a 200k or 15 year life span per the diesel supplement.

rest assured, 'severe duty' will be applied to the belt, dealers will be quoting it at some crazy low mileage :)

And on the LM2, getting to that belt is intensive - something they addressed with the new 2025 engine.

Nothing new with the LZ0 diesel. It's been in the Silverado/Sierra since the 23 model year and put in the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon for the first time in the 25 model year. The LZ0 3.0l diesel still uses the same oil pump drive belt as the LM2.
