Hello,
I just got a 2009 Tahoe LT with 22k miles, and while I'm liking it so far, there are some things I wonder about...

1st, I only got 1 transmitter with the car. Call me paranoid, but what if there were others? If I relearn my one remote through the DIC, does that disable any other remotes?

2nd... This Tahoe has an inordinate amount of orange peel in the paint. It's dark blue metallic, so it shows quite a bit. Has anyone had success with wetsanding and rebuffing to remove orange peel? I think I would have a pro do it.

3rd, sometimes there is a VERY loud noise coming from under the hood. Like a very loud fan. I can't figure out what makes it happen. It just comes and goes on it's own, and it's not obviously tied to climate control or anything else I can fathom. It almost sounds llike a jet turbine.

4th, I miss the way you could get an entirely flat cargo floor behind the driver's seats in my old hoe. I've removed the 3rd row seats, but the 2nd row buckets do not fold flat. If I got a bench seat, does it fold flat? I don't see how, but thought I'd ask. If so, I'd be willing to trade somebody for an ebony leather 2nd row bench

Thanks... I really am enjoying the new hoe, getting 16 mpg in-town with the AC on, not too shabby. I hope all my new-owner questions are not too off-putting, but I figured this would be the best place to get honest answers.

Hello and Welcome!

I'll take a stab at question #1 - Theoretically, yes it would disable the other remotes. You can have several programed to your vehicle, but they must all be programmed at the same time, under the same programming cycle. If you just reprogram yours, all other remotes will no longer be programmed.

Now, that doesn't stop the actual key from opening the door and starting the vehicle. If you are worried about someone else possessing a key to your Tahoe, I wouldn't worry too much. The chances of that particular person finding your particular vehicle on one particular day are slim at best.

On a side note - If I were you, I would consider getting another key fob (there are lots of places online) for yourself, and programming it to your Tahoe. Also, if you didn't get a spare key, that's always a good idea to have as well (dealership would be able to help you there).

Once again, Welcome and enjoy the site! I am sure you will love your new (to you) Tahoe!! :Handshake:

Thanks for the welcome guys... my noise is not the same as that video, it just sounds like a small fan going REALLY fast. Here's some multimedia...

http://youtu.be/uASn8f2T_pk

Normal fan noise at :15, then after a brief cameo by a poor neglected el camino, at :30 all hell breaks loose. But you know, at lunch today I walked by a GM truck that was running, and it was doing the same thing, Does everybody get this?

I too think it is just the electric fans. Mine does it and it is very loud from outside the vehicle. The fans will come on if you are in hot weather and stopped or idleing. You said it is not tied to the climate control. Are you sure? Mine will come on with the AC but I only notice it when I'm outside the vehicle or do a remote start. It may be on at other times but I don't think it stays on while moving. The AC will not cool unless air moves through the coils. My 2011 Tahoe cools much better at idle or while stopped in traffic then my 02 Yukon which had a engine driven fan with clutch.

Yeah, I guess you're right. It's not that noticeable from inside. It's very loud in the vid because it's inside the garage. When I say it's not obviously tied to climate control, I mean it doesn't come on based on anything I do at the controls; if I turn the comprressor off while it's going, it still goes. It does makes sense that it is used to generate sufficient air flow at idle. Just surprised me the first time I heard it... wondering if there's somewhere I can squirt some lubricant to quiet it down a little

I think I would have a pro do it. GM usually has alot of orange peel, you can wet sand, but make sure you get your paint thickness measured before you do this to be on the safe side.

3rd, sometimes there is a VERY loud noise coming from under the hood. Like a very loud fan. I can't figure out what makes it happen. It just comes and goes on it's own, and it's not obviously tied to climate control or anything else I can fathom. It almost sounds llike a jet turbine. I watched your video, it is fine, it functionality is normal. It is your electric fans. It's loud because it need to move air...lots of it..

4th, I miss the way you could get an entirely flat cargo floor behind the driver's seats in my old hoe. I've removed the 3rd row seats, but the 2nd row buckets do not fold flat. If I got a bench seat, does it fold flat? I don't see how, but thought I'd ask. If so, I'd be willing to trade somebody for an ebony leather 2nd row bench Your second row seat will fold the seat back once, then if you pull the handle again it will release a second time and pivot on the front axis of the seat. Other then that, that's it.

Thanks... I really am enjoying the new hoe, getting 16 mpg in-town with the AC on, not too shabby. I hope all my new-owner questions are not too off-putting, but I figured this would be the best place to get honest answers.
