Hi everyone I picked this 2008 Tahoe SSV a few months ago with 117,000 on it. The truck use to be a Vermont State trooper truck. I don't know in what capacity it was used for. When I first got I gave it a tune up by replacing all the spark plugs and wires, Did a Oil change, Then Replace all the door speakers (non of these worked) and radio, Hooked up the trailer wires to the power studs in the engine bay. I gave it a quick detail on buffy it out. I changed the tires. When I got the truck it had Goodyear Wrangler TPC spec tires on it. But from 2006 which I found very odd. But I replaced them with Cooper Discoverer A/T3. I just been doing some other research on the truck. Like I saw the D.I.C. I did that also. But had to order a new panel since I screwed up cutting it in.

Oh I forgot to mention that when I got the truck it had a lot of rust under it on the frame. So bought a frame restore kit like Pro-15 and recoated all the rust areas. I also just took it out in the first deep snow we got to see how it was going to be. It wasn't bad in the snow.

Congrats on the purchase. As part of your tune up you might also want to change the gear oil on both of your differentials as well as your ATF. Just a simple drain and refill should suffice and have your truck really running well.

Another thing to monitor is your oil pressure. There's a screen in front of the oil pressure sensor (accessed via the top near the firewall) that gets clogged and gives a low pressure reading, as well as an O-ring (acting as a seal between the pickup tube and the pump) that deteriorates over time that can also create oil pressure issues and engine ticking.

Thank you for this bit of information. I will changed the other fluids in spring. So far the oil reads above 40 when cold and just below at temp at idle

Those are good oil pressure readings for the age of the truck! How's your interior looking overall?

I think the interior isn't bad for a cop used truck. Since buying it though the dash cracked in 3 places and those weren't there when I bought it. But It has all the small holes in the dash. I added a Trailer brake controller to it. Might do some towing with it this year if I don't sell my race car. Don't mind the back being dirty, I use the truck right now to get my firewood from my backyard storage spot.

Question for some of you guys. IN the plastic just behind the back seat and in front of the back door. There is a hole on both sides. Would this be for a gate to separate the front and back? You can sort of see the hole in the back picture.

The high vis vest is because I work in construction to.

HAHA so many questions as I think about them. I have the tow haul switch. Does this mean my truck has it. Even though it does not have the factory Brake controller switch? I already hooked up the wires to the studs in the engine bay.
