New to us 2004 K2500HD w/118k miles

Bought this yesterday from the dad of my shop owner friend. He is second owner and has only put 20k miles on it since Sept. 2017. Have CarFax from 1st owner and there is no wrecks and religious maintenance history. Since seller owned, his ASE Master Tech son has taken care of truck. Just got new tires on truck. BF Goodrich K02's. The body is showroom condition with no dents, dings or scratches. Has 118k miles on it right now. I have the original air cleaner housing and plumbing and will be changing out, asap.

A few thousand $'s. Steering and suspension is bigger and beefier. Frame is stouter. Brake system is hydro-boost and bigger. Although my 1/2 ton Tahoe Z71 has hydro-boost. The truck body is pretty much the same but it is what is under the hood and under the body where the differences happen.

At first, I thought the question was a joke/kiddin'.

2500HD are heavy workhorses. VERY different from 1500s.

Heavy/deeper frames
Heavy/stronger brakes - 4 wheel disc brakes*
Hydroboost brakes
Full float 14 bolt legendary 10.5" axle
4L80e transmission (another legendary drivetrain of noteworthy mentioning.)
9200 lb GVWR
Heavier duty transfer cases
Engine/transmission coolers

They are heavy trucks meant for towing, hauling and have longer lasting drivetrains.

*Note than after 04 on the 1500 trucks GM reverted back to rear drums, but SUVs and 2500/2500HD/3500 kept 4 wheel discs (obviously not the same brakes).

@OR VietVet have you driven the truck yet? I think YOU will fall in love with it. My daily driver 06 Suburban 2500 has similar drivetrain/ratio, but a 2wd. I really like driving it.

I drove it back in July when I was looking and was gonna sell my Tahoe. He wanted too much because it needed tires. He has now put on the new tires and my girl is selling her 1990 K2500 ext cab and we were gonna need a pickup and this was still for sale. With the new tires, this is now a very nice truck. I love the truck but it is hers. We are stuck together like glue, so it will be available to me whenever I need it or just want to drive it.

Also, I forgot about the drivetrain beefiness. The 4L80E and bigger transfer case and yes, the full float 10.5 axle that is pretty much grenade proof.

I have to look but I believe it is drive by wire but has a fan clutch and no electric fans. Gotta look still. Been busy all day getting a 2013 Hyundai Elantra with 27k miles on it, ready for sale tomorrow, for my landlord. Also getting insurance on truck so can have a policy number for the Oregon DMV online title transfer.
