I've had my 2011 Z71 tahoe for a few years now and I have noticed this issue more in the last few months.
When in a paved parking lot and dry conditions when I turn the wheel not all the way to full lock but enough to get out of a parking spot the front starts bouncing and the tires slip like it's engaged in 4x4. although it's not. today i went to pull into a local business and it acted like it was dragging a tire, one of the tires started screacking (can't tell which one it was) and I had to use more of the pedal to get off the road than normal because otherwise there was enough resistance that it wanted to stop the truck. It made a load popping sound and then was better but i could still feel more resistance than normal. I took it to the dealership and they said everything checked out ok but they are draining all fluids and looking for signs of wear in the fluid. it honestly acts like its in 4x4 and it never used to do this when in 2wd so something is wrong or has changed.
The only other symptom that i have noticed and this has been ever since i purchased the truck is when i go to my parents which is only a few times a year their driveway is very steep and i put in in auto 4x4 to get up their driveway anytime of the year. when i do that the transfercase makes a pretty load whining noise. I've had 3 other GM trucks with the auto transfercase and none have ever been this load. I always think I need to get this looked at when it happens but its so rare that i'm back home that i forget about it by the time i return home.
anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
