When doing the search I could find posts with no heat in front or rear but not both. I have a 2003 yukon slt. The other day vic popped up with low coolant so I topped it off before heading back out. A couple weeks ago I noticed the rear great not blowing not and now the front blows cold as well. I put it on defrost and it barely has any heat from it too. Need an idea if what is causing it before I start throwing parts at it. Last year I did replace the blower motor resistor because I had heat in the rear and nothing in the front vents. I do have the automatic temperature control. Thank you for any help.

heat problems

Sounds like you have a blend door problem. Which is common on these trucks. I am sure both from and rear a gone. there are lots of threats on this site and youtube. All the info you need will be there.

Ok, you said you wanted help before throwing parts at the rig. You said you were low on coolant. When you added what difference did it make? Is it low again. When you switch the heat and defrost and front to rear, do you hear blends doors moving? What temp does the engine run at? Is the thermostat working correctly?

Thank you for your help. The temp stays under 210, when I added more coolant it did not make a difference in the heat. So far the level is still good in the reservoir. And I don't hear the doors opening or closing, only the fan getting higher or lower.

In that case you may well have blend door actuator problems as #1taho stated. They are a known weak point. Either have a qualified tech check it out or start buying actuators and check how to install. By the way, it says KCyukon. Are you in K.C., Mo.

I moved from Gladstone in 1997 to here in Eugene, Oregon. My youngest brother still lives near Parkville and works at the Ford Plant in Claycomo. I do not miss the winters and summers there a bit. If you ever need a great shop for work I can recommend one but it is in Lenexa, Ks. right off the highway. I used to run the place before I moved here. I was in the repair industry for 35 years as a tech for 10 and a service manager for 25.

I love it here but like you said, don't like the winters. Especially now that I don't have heat. I work at the Gm plant in kck and have been there for 9 years now and love it. And Oregon is by far the most beautiful state in the Pacific Northwest.

Wow those blend doors aren't cheap! 140 for the front one and 130 for the rear one.

You can find them at Amazon and ebay for less. I have even hear where guys took them apart and cleaned the inside and connections and they worked just fine. Like I said, if you need a good tech shop I know one. After I got out of the Viet Nam war they offered me a job at Claycomo but I turned it down because I didn't want to do the same thing all the time. By the way, I hated the winters and the humidity in the summer. I lived in K.C. over 33 years. I graduated from Excelsior Springs High School.

I'm originally from akron ohio. Been in this area for 21 years now. Beautiful city here and with the Royals season this year it really came alive. I will try cleaning them first. Looks like I'm going to YouTube for some how to videos on how to find and remove them. In the end I might still need a shop to do this depending on what I find.
