No heat while car is warming up

Before each cold start, pop the hood and check the coolant level. Top off as needed, and jot down what day and how much it took to bring it up to the same line each time. That'll give you a good idea if it settled down or is consuming it internally. A-n-a-l, yes, but empirical data rules.

Also check for moisture tracks, as the heat of the engine compartment can evaporate fluid from a leak before it drips.

Would I see coolant on the ground from that? Can I visually see the T's in the engine bay?
Mine werent pouring. They just leaked enough that after a month the coolant level was down substantially in the tank. Id also pull all the plugs on a cold engine and take a look at those and shine a flashlight in the spark plug hole and have a look at the piston crowns. Any heads cracked and getting coolant in the combustion chamber will steam clean the piston crowns free of all carbon.
