Heated fluids and air defrost will not clear the windscreen in any reasonable amount of time. An in glass element will start melting within minutes.
A heated screen can be an OPTION.

I live in Western NY...Never felt the need for a heated windshield and have driven Suburbans and Yukons since the 90s. And yes...they are expensive enough without adding useless things like heated windshields.

716 here as well. Truck is parked outside. Nothing is a need. As mentioned, I think it should be an option.
Have to spend an inordinate amount of time chiseling the ice off the wipers due to their location on this vehicle.

If defrost works that badly it's a design flaw in that new generation.
When the windshield needs that much scraping the other windows need some work too, by the time those are done defrost has usually done enough to make the windshield easy.

One of our cars the wipers are buried lower then those and its a pain when they ice over.

Adding to the first world problems here...

Picked up a 2025 Escalade last week. Was driving yesterday and hit the defrost, and got a message that said "Heated Windshield Activated." Cadillac in their infinite wisdom has not published the full owners manual for the Escalades yet, so I can't confirm it, but the Escalade IQ has a heating element on the windshield wipers. It appears the new Escalades have it as well.

Says to hit the button again to get defrost without the heating element. So interesting that it seems to exist somewhere in the GM universe.

I use Rain X on all the windows. The ice comes off much easier. They also make a washer solvent that works pretty well.
